About Us Terri Moss, Moss
Communications
Moss Communications is a small, independent publishing house. It was
originally founded by Terri Moss in 1993 as a boutique consulting firm
specializing in employee communications, primarily open enrollment
communications.
In 2007, Moss Communications expanded its mission to include publishing books
that encourage fuller employee engagement and improving the quality of life in
the work place. Moss Communications’ first publication, Healing with Heart,
was honored with the American Journal of Nursing's 2008 Book of the Year in the
Leadership and Management category. In 2010, Moss Communications released
Prayer: A Relationship without Words.
History
Before moving into publishing, Terri spent the last 26 years as an employee
and marketing communications consultant. She worked for several of the premier
human resources consulting firms in the country, Hewitt Associates, Alexander &
Alexander Consulting Group, and for a behavioral healthcare medical facility.
She presently runs her own consulting firm and publishing house, Moss
Communications.
Through her work and extensive experience as a hospital volunteer, she has
developed a deep sensitivity to their particular challenges and the environment
in which they work. Her inspiration to pursue the writing and publication of
Healing With Heart comes from her deep commitment and appreciation for the
importance of clear communication among employees and throughout an
organization. Her next book, Prayer: A Relationship without Words, is the
antidote and gift she wished she had during her own experiences of “dark nights
of the soul” when prayer was most needed and yet most elusive.
Mission
Terri has long-held a mission and vision to create practical, everyday work
tools to help employees achieve a renewed attitude for their work; one that is
inspired and personally fulfilling.
Terri has been an avid and devoted meditator for 31 years. She lives with her
husband, son and wonder-dog and Therapy Pet, Cody, in the San Francisco Bay
Area.
Martin
C. Helldorfer, Consultant
The primary author of Healing with Heart and the sole author of
Prayer: A Relationship without Words, Martin C. Helldorfer, has the kind of
education and work experience that not only qualified him to write these books,
it inspired him.
For
30 years he was a Catholic monk, a life that gave him selfless discipline and
the deep conviction that we are put on this earth to help others. When he
re-emerged into the world, he studied psychology and put his knowledge to work
in a private practice for over 20 years.
During that time, he was also the director of outpatient care and the
resident psychologist at a prominent residential treatment center as well as a
psychologist for Saint John Vianney Hospital in Philadelphia.
In September 2009, Martin retired from his position of Senior Vice President
of Mission at Exempla Healthcare, where he guided the organization’s goal of
fostering healing for everyone entrusted to its care. His experiences at Exempla
fueled and formed the basis of his writing for Healing with Heart. Martin
is available for speaking and conducting workshops. Go to
Speaking
& Workshops for a description of Martin's talks and contact Moss
Communications to book a speaking engagement.
