Healing with
Heart from Moss Communications
Being Strong and Vulnerable
Healing with
Heart: Inspirations for Health Care Professionals uses everyday
events and stories to put us back in touch with our passion for our
work. One way to re-ignite passion is to reconnect with our humanity
and with the humanity of others. Healing with Heart, the
latest book from Moss Communications, addresses topics that touch on
inner truths that are not often discussed in the break room or
before the daily huddle.

Healing with Heart articulates ideas that may seem
contradictory or may not appear to have any relevance to health
care. That is part of its appeal. Healing with Heart is
designed to stimulate the mind and the heart. The reflection on
strength and vulnerability is a good example of this. Here is an
excerpt from Being Strong and Vulnerable from the book:
Many of us believe that strength and
vulnerability are opposites. The fact is that nobody is stronger
than the person who is truly vulnerable because he is making a
conscious choice to be open to experiencing a full range of
feelings.
We pride ourselves on being strong and self-directed and think of
vulnerability as a weakness. Instead of trying to deny our
vulnerable feelings, there is value in letting them influence the
way we live, both at home and at work.
The expression of empathy generates healing qualities in a hospital
setting and in us. To bring a healing presence to those we serve
amounts to so much more than being merely technically adept. It is
the capacity to be open to the suffering that we see and to use this
state of mind to empathize as one human being to another…
