Healing with
Heart from Moss Communications
Being the Mayor of Your Own Corner of the World
Healing with
Heart: Inspirations for Health Care Professionals, is all about
empowering those of us in health care, to realize the influence we
have over our own attitudes and behaviors, and over our work place.
Using everyday stories that take place in hospitals, Healing with
Heart, the latest book published by Moss Communications,
suggests that we have more control than we think, and we are obliged
to use it responsibly.

The reflection, Being the Mayor of Your Own Corner of the World,
reminds us that we have the power to lead. It offers practical
suggestions about the ways we impact one another. We don’t have to
be a world leader to exert influence over our world. It starts with
one simple act in our little corner of the world. Here is an excerpt
from the reflection, Being the Mayor of Your Own Corner of the World
from Healing with Heart:
When we think about individuals who have
had a large, positive influence on the world and who seem utterly
committed to their work, we may think of some of the heroic figures
of our times: Nelson Mandela, Albert Schweitzer and Mother Theresa.
And yet, each of us, no matter what our position, will leave a
lasting legacy when we love what we do and allow our enthusiasm to
touch everyone we meet. We don’t have to be in positions where our
job is monumental. What we do isn’t as important as how we do it.
All of us bring different needs, ideas and motivations to our work.
Many of us think of employment primarily as a way to earn the money
we need to raise children, maintain a certain lifestyle or just get
by. In other words, work is merely a job.
Think about your day yesterday. Did something unexpected happen that
helped you notice how we influence one another? Maybe one of your
coworkers offered to cover for you while you made a necessary
personal phone call, or your boss made a point of acknowledging a
presentation you made in a meeting the other day, or another
colleague emailed an article to you about an issue you had been
discussing. These are the daily ways we impact one another…
